Speaker Bio—

Dr. Dana Wang is a Harvard-trained, board-certified psychiatrist, author, speaker, and mental health entrepreneur. She co-founded and served as Co-CEO of Rivia Mind, a multi-state mental health practice she helped grow into an organization serving thousands of patients annually.

With more than a decade of clinical experience, Dr. Wang brings a fresh perspective to emotional communication, human relationships, and the invisible psychological patterns that shape how we connect. Her work explores how family history, culture, and generational differences influence the way we understand, express, and respond to emotions—and how greater emotional awareness can transform our relationships at home and at work.

A published researcher and sought-after speaker, Dr. Wang has presented at national and international conferences and has been invited by global corporations, Ivy League universities, clinical associations, and nonprofit organizations to share her insights.

Drawing on her clinical expertise, entrepreneurial leadership, and cross-cultural experiences, she translates complex psychological concepts into engaging stories, fresh perspectives, and practical tools that audiences can apply to their everyday lives.

Her mission is to change how we talk, feel, and love—one conversation at a time.

Signature Speaking Topics

1. The Unspoken Language of Emotions

Why We Struggle to Express What We Feel—and How to Change That

We have more language for mental health than ever before, yet many people still struggle to recognize, articulate, and communicate their own emotions. Dr. Wang explores alexithymia—the difficulty identifying and describing feelings—and how emotional disconnection affects our relationships, well-being, and ability to connect with others.

Audiences will learn to recognize unspoken emotions, build greater emotional awareness, and turn everyday conversations into opportunities for deeper understanding.

Ideal for: Corporate wellness programs, mental health conferences, universities, and general audiences.

2. When Love Gets Lost in Translation

Bridging Generational and Cultural Divides in Families and Beyond

Why do expressions of care sometimes feel like criticism? Why can two people experience the same conversation so differently?

Drawing on her clinical work and cross-cultural experiences, Dr. Wang explores how generations and cultures develop different emotional languages. She reveals how recognizing the intentions, experiences, and feelings beneath our words can bridge misunderstandings and restore connection.

Ideal for: Universities, cultural organizations, employee resource groups, family-focused events, and mental health conferences.

3. The Psychology of Human Connection

How Emotional Understanding Transforms Relationships at Home and at Work

The quality of our relationships shapes our sense of belonging, resilience, and well-being. Yet even well-intentioned people can become trapped in cycles of misunderstanding, defensiveness, and emotional distance.

Dr. Wang introduces the psychology behind emotional connection and practical communication strategies that help people move from reacting to understanding, from conflict to collaboration, and from emotional distance to meaningful connection.

Ideal for: Corporate conferences, leadership retreats, professional associations, and wellness events.

4. Breaking the Cycle of Intergenerational Trauma

Understanding What We Inherit—and Choosing What We Pass Forward

Our emotional lives are shaped not only by personal experiences but also by the histories, beliefs, and survival strategies of generations before us.

Dr. Wang explores how trauma and emotional patterns travel across generations, why they persist, and how greater awareness and intentional communication can help interrupt these cycles.

Rather than focusing solely on what previous generations got wrong, she invites audiences to understand the context in which these patterns developed and discover how compassion and emotional growth can create a different future.

Ideal for: Mental health organizations, universities, cultural associations, and community events.

5. Beyond Emotional Intelligence

The Hidden Emotional Skills Behind Effective Leadership, Communication, and Collaboration

Successful leadership requires more than understanding what people think. It requires recognizing what they feel, especially when those emotions remain unspoken.

Dr. Wang explores how emotional awareness, mentalization, and communication influence workplace relationships, psychological safety, and collaboration. Drawing on her experience as both a psychiatrist and the co-founder of a growing mental health organization, she offers practical approaches to navigating difficult conversations, understanding different perspectives, and building trust.
